The former NWA United States Tag Team Titles were officially referred to as the WCW United States Tag Team Titles from January 1991 until the titles were discontinued by WCW Executive Bill Watts on July 31, 1992, in order to put more focus on the Unified WCW/NWA World Tag Team Championship.

Rick & Scott Steiner are regarded as the first WCW United States Tag Team Champions.

  3. The Patriots (Todd Champion & Firebreaker Chip) defeated The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin) on 08/12/91 in Gainesville, Georgia to win the titles.
  4. The Young Pistols (Tracy Smothers & Steve Armstrong) defeated The Patriots (Todd Champion & Firebreaker Chip) on 11/05/91 in Gainesville, Georgia to win the titles.
  5. Ron Simmons & Big Josh defeated The Young Pistols (Tracy Smothers & Steve Armstrong) on 01/14/92 in Columbus, Georgia to win the titles.
  6. Greg Valentine & The Taylor-Made Man defeated Ron Simmons & Big Josh on 02/17/92 in Rock Hill, South Carolina to win the titles.
  7. The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin) defeated Greg Valentine & The Taylor-Made Man on 05/17/92 in Jacksonville, Florida at Wrestle War to win the titles for the 2nd time.
  8. Dick Slater & The Barbarian defeated The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin) on 06/25/92 in Kansas City, Missouri to win the titles.
